NSS Activities

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government and Tamilnadu government sponsored public service program conducted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. The scheme was launched in Mahatma Gandhijis Centenary year,1969. University level committee will plan for the academic year and the affiliated college NSS units will execute.
NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, working for a campus-community linkage. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organized by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.
In our college , two units of NSS are functioning well with a volunteers strength of 200. Our institute received "Tobacco Free Educational Institute" status.


We are conducting regular activities like:

  • Personality development Programme

  • Soft skill development Programme

  • Campus beautification

  • Computer Coaching classes for school children

  • Voluntary services for Orphanage and Old age home inmates.

  • 24 th September every year we are celebrating the NSS day.

Annual special camps:

Camps are held annually in the adopted village. NSS unit-1 adopt Pannur and NSS Unit -2 adopt Susaipuram villages near Sunguwar chathiram. Volunteers may be involved in such activities as:

  • Cleaning of school campus.

  • Afforestation ( Sapling plantation done on school and near places)

  • Stage shows or a procession creating awareness of such issues as social problems, computer education and cleanliness.

  • Awareness Rallies

  • Inviting doctors for health camps-Free medical camps were conducted. Medicines were distributed free of cost
