IEEE EVENTS
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in
association with The IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group,
Student Branch Chapter (SBA60101) and IEEE Women in Engineering
(WiE) Affinity Group Madras Section and IEEE St. Joseph’s College of
Engineering Student Branch (SBc60101), successfully organized an
exclusive cyber safety awareness program titled “CYBERWISE -
Empowering Women” on 04.07.2025 as part of the IEEE WIE Day 2025
celebrations.
This initiative was specially designed for school girls, emphasizing
the critical importance of cyber safety in the digital age. The session
featured, “Ms. Indhumathi Gunasekaran”, Secretary, IEEE Madras WIE
AG, and Council Standing YP Volunteer, IEEE India, as the
distinguished guest speaker.
Ms. Indhumathi shared valuable insights on the theme “Pioneering
Safe Cyberspace: Bridging Technology and Light for Security”. The
interactive session covered crucial topics including safe internet
practices, recognizing online threats, safeguarding personal data,
and the responsible use of social media platforms.
The event, held at the Robotics PEP Center, St. Joseph’s College of
Engineering, saw enthusiastic participation from the attendees, who
engaged actively by raising pertinent questions and sharing their
experiences. The program fostered awareness and confidence among
young girls to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.
