Event: Two-Day Hands-on Training on Open Source
GIS Tools for Civil Engineers, Dates: 17th & 18th
October 2024, Resource Person: Mr. R.T. Ezhil
Thalapathi, M.Tech, CEO & Founder, ETA Geospatial
Solutions. The aim of the workshop was to introduce
final-year civil engineering students to open-source
GIS tools and their applications in civil engineering
projects. Participants gained hands-on experience
using tools to analyze spatial data and integrate GIS
with civil engineering workflows.

The Department of Chemical
Engineering at St. Joseph's College of
Engineering hosted an alumni
interaction session on October 21, 2024,
featuring Mr. Akash Vijayaraghavan
Ramesh, a 2015-2019 batch alumnus
and Graduate Research Associate at the
University of Calgary. Mr. Akash shared
insights on "Research Opportunities in
Foreign Countries," guiding final-year
students on applying for research roles
abroad, securing scholarships, and
building strong academic portfolios. He
highlighted the significance of global
collaboration in Chemical Engineering
and encouraged students to pursue
international opportunities.
